Overview

Southern Nezo-Germanic is a dialect of Proto-Nezo-Germanic (PNzG) spoken in the southern regions of the Nezo-Germanic Islands.

Phonology

Plosive p, b t, d k, g
Fricative ɸ ~ f (f), β ~ v (v) s, z ɣ (r)
Nasal m n

Main Phonological Shifts

The Proto-Nezo-Germanic rhotic /ɾ/ smoothed out into /ɣ/. This change also occured in Central Nezo-Germanic (which was influenced by the shift in Southern Nezo-Germanic).

The Class I noun ending "-as" weakened the "a":

/as/ > /əs/ > /z/ in some circumstances

Heavy intervocalic voicing.
