Androuvîny

From Nezopedia
Androuvîny (natively called Androuvinyse) is an extinct Romance language that was spoken in the southern Asteria region of the Commonwealth of the Merchant Dynasties, mainly in the cities of Androuvîn and Bay of the Wheat Horde. It is part of the Loquille-Romance branch of the Nezo-Romance family, however shares an evolution similar to that of the human Gallo-Romance languages. Androuvîny evolved from Vulgar Latin. The language came to be when the native Asterian, Herastase speaking population adopted the language of romance speaking settlers. However, it got quickly displaced by Astyr. As it died out relatively quickly, it did not adopt many features from the surrounding native Loquillan languages. It is categorised by its unusual evolution of palatal sounds, and unique in its evolution of Vulgar Latin /a:/ to /ɔ/. Its legacy can be seen in a few Asterio-Seleny place names.
